I used the default particles.png file, upscaled it, and then edited the two flame particles, so that is the only change, apart from the increased resolution. The pack is at a 32x32 resolution, so the particles.png is 256x256, with individual particles having dimensions of 16x16 pixels. Here are some details that I managed to learn through my testing:įirstly, the particles work just fine in vanilla 1.7.10, but as soon as I add the mod, without using the usual optifine and fastcraft, the torch flames revert to the vanilla textures. I quickly grew very frustrated, however, when despite all of my efforts and a good deal of troubleshooting, the custom particles simply wouldn't show up. In the progress of creating my lotr mod resource pack, Immersion, I decided to try changing the torch flame particles, so that it would fit better with the surrounding textures.
